Newport Pagnell in the 1940s

Yesterday, Julie and I spent the afternoon over in Newport Pagnell at the invitation of their new Mayor, Cllr Paul Day. They were having their second annual 1940s retro festival in the town and what a show! Great to see many of the pubs and hotels joining in the festivities along with many stalls in the street selling a range of themed food and articles. Everyone was out enjoying themselves in the summer sun. Great pageant!

Here are some pics. Here the Mayor in conversation with some British soldier re-enactors

We had a flyover of a Lancaster Bomber (one of two I am told, still up in the air)

Not everyday you get to hear Winston repeat his 'we will fight them on the beaches' speech...

Some songs from the 1940s

Some German Wehrmacht soldiers/re-enactors

Just one of the classic cars there.
