Last night we held our first full council meeting of the new year (beyond the statutory meeting last Friday) and we had the greatest of pleasure in awarding a silver salver to John Barnett in recognition of him becoming a 'Friend of Buckingham'.
John was a former councillor and was closely involved in the creation of the original town plan but has been spending most of his time since chairing the trustees and management team that looks after the Buckingham Youth Centre. A great chap and a very worthy Friend of the town. He as was presented with his salver after speeches from Cllrs Strain-Clark and O'Dongohue, having been originally nominated by Cllr Stuchbury. Here he is receiving it from me, courtesy of Robin's photography.
I also received a picture of me receiving a signed football shirt from Andy Cullen at the MK Dons Buckingham Big Day match ten days ago. I am still pondering what to do with it to maximise its fundraising possibilities. Any ideas??
(Thanks Thomas Evans for the pic)
