Welcome to another new Mayor and a story of 'chain envy'

It was a glorious occasion, like last year, to be present at the Aylesbury Town Mayor making event last Friday. Here are a couple of pics of Cllr Mark Willis becoming Mayor and a joint pic of him and his deputy, Cllr Mike Smith (yes they have a Cllr Mike Smith too!). We were treated to a sit down meal as part of the proceedings. On my table, I learnt about about a story from a few years ago...

Apparently, there was an occasion when the Aylesbury Town Mayor was present at an event where also present was the Chair of the Aylesbury Vale District Council. And the Town Mayor was asked to remove (most of) his chain as it was bigger than the AVDC's Chair's one... so as not to upstage said Chair. I had never come across 'chain envy' before. I would like to think, that such an occurrence would be very unlikely to happen again..!
